Kadince is a community involvement software that streamlines the process of getting communities funded to achieve their best potential.
I lead the new branding, which focused on placing the communities and beneficiaries of the software as the heroes. The product is not the hero; it’s the communities that benefit from the product.
Each illustration focuses around various efforts of the software and is grounded in a familiar, empathetic, aspiring reality.

The software is not the hero, the brand is not the hero.
We showed the goals and outcomes from Kadince’s help; communities operating and thriving as a well oiled sustainable machine – they are the hero.
A responsive illustration system for desktop and mobile
We created the hero mural as a modular layout where we could serve smaller sized illustrations for narrower viewports by simply removing some buildings and people.
We put storytelling at the forefront of this brand.
In this case I wanted "Sesame Street" meets "Do The Right Thing" with a warm and safe, but realistic and authentic style. This painted a picture for the world we’re trying to build with the product, without forcing it down anyone’s throat.
This landscape image was established first. After that, could drill into this miniature world to pull out vignettes that related to specific features of the software.
Iconography
While we were bucking trends of financial tech illustrations with our primary imagery, we wanted to offset that whimsy style with a more technical style of icons.
Photography
Sourcing photos that display communities coming together and fusing it with some illustrated elements and color correction, would give a scalable but ownable style of photography.
