The Monster Project 2015 / 2016 👹
I was excited when asked to be a part of this wonderful project that helps take children's drawings of monsters and turn them into a full blown interpreted illustration by tons of professional artists all around. Of course, art and creativity in schools is extremely important and in great danger, as it's throw to the back burner when it comes to school budgets etc. This project is helping battle that and inspire kids all around which is spectacular.
Process & Sketches
I wanted to really let my interpretation of the artist's monster run wild and be inspired by the ideas and stories I saw. I saw a lot of potential stories going on here, starting with maybe a UFO coming from behind and abducting, with the monster running away, maybe he had the sun in his eyes, etc. I tried to keep my shapes as simple as possible to, to help push the theory that you don't need to have a particularly magical touch or hand skill to tell a fun story.
