Deck of Cards 🐨

As the Koala Mascot I helped create gleamed as a vibrant success pulling in heaps of new business and general brand awareness / excitement, the client wanted to try out an ambitious next project of a full custom deck of cards.

Working with clients that are interested in trying otherwise unorthodox styles of marketing and company growth is always a truly humbling experience when they trust me to spearhead the project.

Upon starting the project, we had a scope of just the royal cards and some basic design, but as we started opening things up, I realized it'll be worth the extra details all around, since of course that's part of what makes my work so unique. The deck is finished with a uv spot box, custom lettering / numbering, suite iconography, and non copy pasted arrangements of the number cards. Small details that I think make a difference.

Process & Sketches

I actually sort of thought designing something with the reflection / mirroring situation in mind, but I was happily surprised to see that illustrator really makes life easy there. I researched a lot of old decks of cards and researched them pretty extensively. Things like making sure there is a One-eyed Jack, the Suicide King, the particular style of Queens, etc were very important to me making this pack.
