Annotate Emojis

A custom set of hand emojis for a product called Annotate, by a company named Driftt.

Emoji Hands for Driftt / Annotate

The team at Driftt reached out to try out some styles and ideas for what I thought would fit nicely as a hand emoji set for their annotation application, "Annotate". After trying a few directions we came up with a set that stays fun and unique but highly scalable and versatile for small and large display sizes.

Process & Sketches

I started things out real weird and a bit bogus because I didn't want to create yet another set of hand emojis (which has been done hundreds of times by now). We wanted something fun that took advantage of interesting shapes and unique silhouettes. As we started, we realized that we do need to also counter the fun with versatility since the product allows for very very small sizes, as well as pretty large. A middle ground was found here but took a while to get to, just like any thoughtful solution.
